International Schools Award - Community initiative

Workshop between ADU-Architecture and BISAD, entitled : « Sustainability, Architecture and the City »

21/2/2019 to 28/4/2019.

This workshop was initiated and run personally by me, together with support from the leadership of both the Department and the College. It involved 110 students of year 6, that studied and designed their imaginary Abu Dhabi Superblock, developing a sense of scale, architecture and sustainability thinking. The Workshop included a Main Lecture at ADU, two more sessions of lectures at BISAD’s classes and a main Exhibition event at ADU’s main lobby, attended by CoE Dean Dr. Aly Nazmy and BISAD’s Principal Mr. Patrick Horne. The aim of the event, which was open to the public, was to raise awareness about the need to invest in education, aesthetics, creativity, imagination and social cohesion.

This workshop was recently awarded the International Schools Award for Community Initiative at the 2020 ceremony in London. https://www.nordangliaeducation.com/our-schools/abu-dhabi/article/2020/1/21/bis-abu-dhabi-wins-the-international-schools-awards-2020-community-initiative-award?fbclid=IwAR1XBVW977bGT3KDKvFmGEypU8lc_JSupY76mmUXGnIS3DcF-kYSHoph8nU
