ARC540 - Sustainable Design III

This course tends to examine sustainability not in the scale of individual buildings but in the urban scale, more particularly in the neighborhood scale. Also, despite this being a theory course, a small design assignment ensures that Students learn, comprehend and apply the Estidama Pearl Rating System for Communities at an area to be masterplanned for ADHA’s National Emirati Housing Program. At the bottom line, students examine hands-on the basic passive design principles of that scale and emphasize on the virtues of the traditional Arabic Architecture and Urbanism.
