ARC605 (Sustainable Urban Spaces and Landscaping)

This being the first time I have been teaching at the MSc level, I was happy to see that I could combine more specific knowledge and information with a sensitive issue that is missing from the Undergraduate studies, the studies of the public space and the neighborhood scale from the perspective of sustainability. Open urban space was fully questioned, including both public and private space and examining ways of more sensible approaches on their social, cultural, economic and architectural impact. Open urban spaces are treated not as urban leftovers but as negative spaces of constant interaction and flux.

ARC630 (Passive Design Strategies)

Similar in style and subject but different in the final focus was the course ARC630. Sustainability at the urban/neighborhood scale was the question but the focus was limited to passive strategies, thus reaching higher levels of solution engineering. Special attention was given to an analytical methodology of solar-wind calculation and simulations through sophisticated digital tools and software.
