ERASMUS+ Workshop and Conference

At a historical first for my university (ADU) and most probably (to the best of my knowledge) for any institution in the UAE and the GCC region, I was extremely proud to introduce my Department of Architecture and Design to the famous ERASMUS+ (Erasmus Plus) Program of the European Union, through my Architecture Studio 1 course (ARC210).
The first EU-funded Project was kickstarted on September 25th, with the visit of a great friend and colleague, Evanthia Dova from the Neapolis University Pafos in Cyprus, for a 2-day workshop based on the notorious "cube" exercise.
It is a massive honor for a young university and our Department of Architecture and Design. Hopefully soon, students will follow this exchange, and many more pairing collaborations will arise, on what makes it a unique academic and social experience.

Furthermore, as a first output of this joined ADU/NUP Erasmus+ Project, we were proud to present preliminary results and outcomes of our common work from our Architecture Studios at a Conference entitled: « Architectural Education and Practice ; International challenges and Greece », that was Organized by the School of Architecture of the Technical University of Crete and KAM (Centre for Mediterranean Architecture) at Chania, Crete, Greece, on November 10th 2023. https://www.archconf2023.tuc.gr/el/archi .

Our Paper (online) Presentation was entitled: “«Trans-national efforts to transcend context: A design studio in two (plus one) countries». It is published as part of a Book of Abstracts (ISBN: 978-618-5558-06-2) that will soon be followed by a full-paper publication.
